Untitled Song/New Rock Church of Fire from PANDA HEAD MAGAZINE on Vimeo.

One Friday night we decided to lock ourselves in the basement and write a new song. We did, we recorded it, Morgan from Panda Head Magazine recorded us recording it, and now she’s edited together a video for the song. We hope you enjoy it.

Update! Update!

Hello friends.  It’s been a while, thought I’d let everyone know what we’re up to these days .

This weekend we’re headed into the studio to record some new tracks.  If you’ve been to any of our recent shows you’ve heard them live.  We’re really stoked to record these tracks, we think they’re some of the best stuff we’ve written.  Don’t know what we’re going to do with the tracks yet, maybe a digital EP, or perhaps even a 7″! Who knows?  I’ll keep you posted.

Tonight, 9/3, we’re playing at the Light Horse in Alexandria, VA.  It’s a great spot with a good beer selection and delicious food.  We played here a few months ago and had a blast. Also, we’re handing out gift bags with, among other goodies, PCP to the first 50 people through the door. That’s how we party.

On Friday, 9/11 we’re playing with a bunch of old Harrisonburg, VA friends at La Casa in Mount Pleasant, DC.  Never been to this place before, but I’ve heard good things.  Check our myspace or the tour section of this site for more info.

We will be in Richmond on 9/24 at The Triple, always plenty of PBR and fun times in Richmond.

9/25 we are are going to be in DC at the Rock & Roll Hotel for Rattler’s album release party. If it’s anything like the last time we played with them it’s going to be absurd. Do not miss this show.

We’re working out the details on more shows this fall. I’ll post them up when they’re confirmed.

Love,

NRCOF

GenArt Pulse: NRCoF Interview
DSC_3549_WORKING.jpg

Washington DC currently produces safe thoughts of pure bread dogs and Mobama’s J.Crew skirts. This really is crime. Because there’s actually a dangerously glamorous underbelly of the city. It’s in suburban backyards drinking lemonade, worshiping Arnold Schwarzenegger and making some damn fine music. It’s coming to New York tomorrow and you best check it out. It’s my pleasure to introduce Trae, Mitchell and Floyd. Also known as New Rock Church of Fire. Or the incumbent rock gods of the nation’s capital.

Tell me about the conception of NRCF…

The Conception of NRCOF? Glenn Danzig and a silverback gorilla tag-teamed a she-wolf named Crystal and NRCOF was born. The Earth shook the day NRCOF was spawned. The three-headed man-beast we call NRCOF came forth to produce fast, driving rock songs capable of ripping the flesh from bone. Our blend of D.C. post-punk will one day eliminate world hunger, intolerance, and erectile dysfunction.

Where do you see yourselves a year from now?

We would love to be sitting on a beautiful 12″ version of our album, “Of the Wild.”

Ideal groupie?

A rich, beautiful, drug-dealing, designated driver. That, or the good Terminator.

Testing Suckas!

I’ve been colonized by some invasive organism, origin unknown, and I can feel it breeding and pooling in my substructure. I’ve realized that I always preface posts written under these conditions with the assertion of my illness, and the reason I do it is to warn you. My grip on English is tenuous, even in the full flower of health. This preface is a ragged man waving a makeshift flag, shouting, “Turn back, friends! A poet haunts these woods!”

Dokapon Journey is a board game for the Nintendo DS – yes, like Monopoly, but also unlike it, like Mario Party, but distinct from it. The metaphor in place is rich, and lining the walls of its office are framed diplomas from an impressive cross-section of old-school universities. Think of each player as a lone hero in a classic Japanese role-playing game, amassing power by defeating evil (or merely inconvenient) creatures, liberating townships, and shopping. Now, imagine this land were chockablock with industrious young heroes, all competing for accolades from a diminutive ruler. That’s Dokapon Journey in a nutshell: a competitive multiplayer JRPG. You know everything you need to know. It has a single player “story mode,” but it’s hard to get revved up for that when the alternative – robbing and murdering your friends – is available on the same cartridge.

Glancing at the vile and destructive Metacritic, I can see the game is riding low with something like a 58 average. That’s simply not consistent with our experience, and may be a projection into our universe from some Opposite Dimension – a warped realm of sundered causality, one in which good games get bad scores.
